• Below is What You Can Do to Help Bring Up Your Grade

    1. I do not give "Extra Credit." Your grade is 100% dependent on the quality of the work you submit and how you choose to study and prepare for assessments. If what you are doing isn't working and you are failing, perhaps you need to make some changes and very likely some sacrifices in your life. For example, maybe you need to start making flash cards to help you study. Also, maybe it might be a good idea to come to 9th Period and/or to study with a friend who is doing well in Global 10 and asking what they are doing to be successful. However, for some of you, maybe you should be spending a lot less time playing video games and being on social media, and a lot more time devoted to studying.

    2. It is important that you work on flash cards for the unit notes to help you study and prepare for the Unit Tests. Go through the notes for the unit and try to think "what would make a good test question?" For example, did Mr. Cronin give a definition of something in the notes? How about the details of important people and what they did or failed to do? Are any examples of something given? Critical and significant events within the unit? Causes and effects? Anything else?

On one side of an index card, write out questions you think you might see on the test; on the other side, write the answer(s). Chances are you will actually come up with many of the same questions that Mr. Cronin did. Again, write these out in the form of questions. You can even turn these in for Mr. Cronin to review. Drop them off before 1st period and you will have them back before the start of your class. These are done on a first come, first serve basis. The earlier you turn them in, the more likely I will have time to reivew them. If you turn them in at the last possible minute, I may not get to your stack of index cards.

    3. It is important to start the HW assignments immediately and not wait until the last minute. HW is 10% of your grade. Every assignment you don't turn in (or didn't finish once you started) will cost you. Homeworks can NOT be made up and must be turned in by the deadline. Email me questions/problems you might have about the assignment - if any - ahead of time. Do not tell me the day it is due that you "didn't understand" something; at that point, it's too late and a zero will be given.

    4. Study your vocabulary every day for at least 15 minutes. I also recommend you make flash cards for these. Term on one side, definition and examples on the other. You might have more than one index card for each term as some have definitions within definitions.
