It is an “F” Day

●The Interact club will be doing their Food Drive Collection through town tomorrow. Those that signed up or need community service hours please meet at the Wright Center across from Russell Park at 11 AM. There will be Pizza at the end. Please speak with Mr. McHale for more details.
●Tickets for this year's Prom at Pearl Street on June 13th, 6-10pm, will be available for purchase starting on MONDAY May 12th through Tuesday, May 20th. Tickets will be available for purchase in the cafeteria during lunch. The cost is $45. If you plan to bring a guest who is not a current Akron student, you must have a completed guest form, which are available in the HS Office, to submit at the same time you are purchasing your guest ticket. Also, if you owe any outstanding textbooks you need to stop in the HS Office before your ticket can be purchased. Please see Miss.Lucarelli in the Middle School with any questions.
●"Today starts Student Council's canned food drive. Please bring in donations to your homerooms tomorrow through Thursday 5/15. The homeroom that collects the most items will win Paula's Donuts. Please see Mrs. Bowen with any questions".
●Last night the varsity track & field teams hosted Medina. The girls team had a huge win 113-28, while the boys team had their best meet of the year but fell short. Winners for Akron include: James Crooks (shot put, discus), Madigan Regan (1500, 800), Ava Lombard (long jump), Marissa Brege (discus), Cara Swader (shot put), Brooke Milhollen (pole vault), Emily Odachowski (triple jump), and Caitlyn Thomas-Wells (400 hurdles). Winning relays include: the 4x800 (Madigan Regan, Hannah Liss, Kristine Wall, and Abby Bower), the 4x100 (Ava Lombard, Riley Irish-Baker, Lexi Sommers, Emily Odachowski), and the 4x400 (Kylie Karmazyn, Hannah Liss, Riley Irish-Baker, Madigan Regan). Other great performances by the boys include: Aron Gehl (3rd 1600, 2nd 800), Logan Meyers (3rd 400 hurdles, 2nd 3200), Henry Fitzgerald (2nd shot put, 2nd discus). Great job to all!
●Your JV Lacrosse team gets back on track with a huge win against Lakeshore. Akron 13 - Lakeshore 5 Goal Scorers: Spencer Jonathan 5g Cole Siska 3g 4a Stiles Jonathan 2g 1a Lincoln Hill 2g Max Abrams 1g 1a River Hallett 3a Jesse Borynski made 12 saves. Great team defense by Jacob Wild, Memphis Sundown, Ryder Jonathan, Drake Rosenberg! Our tiger of the game is Cole Siska! Next game is today 5:00 at home vs Iroquois.
●Are you interested in Arts, Recreation, Sports, or Swimming and working with youth? If so, the Newstead Rec. department is recruiting staff members for this Summer! Returning Staff members are asked to e-mail Mr. Roland, by Friday, May 9th to share interest. New Candidates need to submit application materials to the Newstead Town Hall no later than Friday, May 9th, for the summer rec. program. If you’re interested in becoming a Lifeguard or Swim Instructor for the Summer Season, the Lifeguard Registration needs to be turned in by Friday, May 16th. The Lifeguard Certification Course will be held on Saturday, May 31st. Please note candidates must be at least 16 years of age and submit working papers to participate. Applications are available on the Town of Newstead website under the “Recreation tab” at www.newsteadrec.com, or contact Mr. Roland, the Director, at 716-392-7657.
Newstead Summer Recreation will be held @ Akron Schools from June 30th to August 8th.
